First Stop--Barcelona

Our honeymoon was a trip of the lifetime. We spent 3 days in Barcelona, Spain and then headed on a Carnival Mediterranean Cruise. We loved every moment.

Barcelona (Day One) We started out with a flight over the ocean to Barcelona, Spain. We landed and due to the time change, we had to stay awake to help our jet lag! So we arrived at our B&B which was great- The Patio is what it was called. It had two rooms only and therefore, very quiet! It was in a local area of Barcelona which offered some challenges but it was definitely worth it. Here is a picture of the B&B breakfast room:

So once we settled in the B&B, we headed to the metro which was extremely easy to use in Barcelona! It reminded me of Washington D.C. The only problem we had was there was no English spoken on the metro. So there did seem to be some sort of issue at a stop, but we couldn't tell what it was. Apparently a stop was down---so we had to get off and figure a different way to where we wanted to go (Las Ramblas) and we did just that!

We got off and went to Casa Battlo, which was a house designed by Gaudi. It was really neat. If you have a Student ID--get the discount! The house had no straight lines in the entire thing and the design and rooftop are really neat. Here are some pictures of it:

We then headed to walk around Las Ramblas, which is a busy touristy area. We walked all the way down the road and even went to the Christopher Columbus Statue. Here are some pictures from Las Ramblas including their big market.

By the time we had done this, we were tired and decided to head back to the B&B, so we could finally eat and go to bed. Once we got back, we were recommended to go eat to a local place nearby, but no one spoke English and they weren't willing to work with us on looking at a menu or anything. So we ended up at a place called Duck's. It wasn't great, but it wasn't horrible. We went back to B&B and slept really good!
