Charleston, South Carolina, Y'ALL!

Battery Park
Charleston....oh, Charleston. It is calling my name now all the time because we adored this city! We were there for two days and the first day it poured the entire time. Now let me explain, most of our trip was terrible weather. We had rain, we had cold, we had not the ideal weather for a vacation! So let's get started. We drove down to the battery to take a look before the rain, as we walk back to the car- it did start raining. We headed to the Fort Sumter National Monument (by the aquarium)--and this part is all free (donations accepted). It was neat to walk through this mini-museum. We walked outside to view Fort Sumter and we see this amazing battleship across the harbor in Mt. Pleasant. We decided to head that way, later we found out it is called Patriot's Point.

Let's talk about Patriot's Point. It is an outstanding museum/interactive museum. It is expensive, I will give you that, but it is WELL worth the money! First, there is a Medal of Honor museum that is really sad but good! Then you can take all these self-guided tours that are labeled 1-6. You follow each path and really get to see the entire ship. This is not meant for handicap people at all, you will have to walk up and down tight stairwell areas. It is great though. I cannot say enough good things about this ship. There is also a submarine and it is also really neat to do a walk through.

We then headed to dinner and had a great low country boil at the Crab House down in the City Market area. It was delicious!!
Delicious!
On our second day, we had two tours planned. We had a normal walking tour and then a food tour. The walking tour we took with Charleston History tours, Picture Perfect. The tour guide took us to many areas that we had not seen the day before, and it was a GORGEOUS day! FINALLY!!! She showed how to shoot some neat pictures in certain spots, but it was mainly a great history tour. We really enjoyed it and would recommend it.

We then headed to our food tour after taking a small break walking around town. The food tour was really good. We went to four different places and tasted 10 items total. This was the best way to really try a lot of the different foods in this area. We started at Southend Brewery, then headed to Amen Street, walked on over to 82 Queen Street, and lastly went to Bull Street Gourmet and Market. We really enjoyed this tour. I would say if we went back we would go to Amen Street and 82 Queen Street right away! We really enjoyed the food in both of these places, some of the highlights are below. After this, we headed out of town promising to return one day and enjoy it all again!
